Chocolate Chip Cookies With A Surprise Ingredient
Darlene’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies with a little something extra. Granola! Yes, that is the surprise ingredient. And it adds a little more body . . . .or something that is hard to explain or express but whatever the case, it’s definitely a winner. You have to try this recipe out for yourself and then you try to explain it.
Yield: 3-1/2 dozen
Ingredients
2-1/4 Cups all purpose flour(319.5g)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Cup of butter(2sticks), softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
3 cups chocolate chips. I use Ghirardelli chocolate chips(1-1/2 bags)
1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
1 cup Nature Valley Oats & Honey Granola
Directions
1.Stir flour with baking soda and salt, set aside.
2.Beat butter with sugars at medium speed until creamy. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed until incorporated.
3.Gradually add dry mixture into creamed mixture until well blended. Fold in chocolate chips, nuts, and granola.
4. Place dough into a gallon plastic bag and chill overnight.
5. Drop by Tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375F for 9-11 minutes.
6.OR make dough balls (average of 1-3/8”)stacked in a circle on a plate. Freeze overnight. Next day break up the dough balls and place in a gallon freezer bag. When ready to bake, bake from frozen at 350F for 13-14 minutes. Cookies should look slightly undercooked. Cool on a wire rack.
