Ingredients
  

Ingredients for the Blueberry Angel Dessert

  • 1 package 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 carton 8 ounces frozen whipped topping, thawed(I prefer the extra creamy Cool Whip)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 prepared angel food cake 8 to 10 ounces, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 cans 21 ounces each blueberry pie filling OR use recipe below to make your own blueberry pie filling. Then use 3 cups of homemade blueberry filling.

Ingredients for the Homemade Pie Filling

  • 4 pints (8 Cups) fresh blueberries divided
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter cut into pieces

Instructions
 

Directions: (For the Blueberry Angel Dessert)

  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, vanilla and confectioners’ sugar until smooth; fold in whipped topping and cake cubes. Spread evenly into an ungreased 13×9-in. dish; top with pie filling. Refrigerate, covered, at least 2 hours before serving.

Directions (For the Homemade Pie Filling)

  • Place 3 pints (6 cups) blueberries, sugar, water, cornstarch, and cinnamon in a saucepan; cook and stir over medium-low heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture is slightly thickened, 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Remove saucepan from heat; gently stir in butter and remaining blueberries so blueberries stay whole.
