Strawberry Surprise with Pie Crusties

This is such as simple and delicious dessert. This dessert is requested frequently.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pints of fresh sliced strawberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • Double pie crust baked-refer to my Flaky Pie Crust recipe
  • 1/2 Stick Butter, Melted
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar or To Taste

Instructions
 

Making the Strawberry Syrup

  • Sprinkle strawberries with sugar and place in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight.

Making the Crusties

  • Preheat oven at 425F or 218C
  • Place pie dough on a work surface and roll out to 1/8 of an inch maybe a little more.
  • Place rolled out dough on a baking sheet and place in a preheated oven at 425 degrees or 218 celsius for 8 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle Sugar to your taste, but I am very liberal with the sugar.
  • Back in the oven for an additional 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Remove from oven and let it cool completely before building your Strawberry Surprise.

Notes

This can also be done with fresh summer peaches, blueberries, or blackberries. Be sure to put fresh lemon juice on the peaches and cinnamon sugar.
